You’re Not Alone

That’s right. A happy reminder that when you, your friends, loved ones, neighbors, or acquaintances join a timebank, it means you’re not alone. Free membership into our exchange system is yours—no money involved. Rather, “person hours” are the currency earned as you build community and friendship—all while you exchange services you love to provide, and receive the same. (Think: get help cleaning your ‘fridge, provide a ride to shop for groceries, or hang out with a timebank companion to see a film, etc.) Then log exchange hours into the easy-to-use “Hour World” website account. Download our timebanking flyer for super portable info! Click on the flyer’s web links herein to check out the St. Pete’s  and Spring Hill websites. TBT is part of an area timebank network. Way to go!

Valentine’s Potluck: Conversations on Love, Life, and Timebank Exchanges

This Sunday, February 10, in honor of timebanking and Valentine’s Day, 18 of us gathered to celebrate. We had poets and painters and a naturopath. We had an insurance specialist, a Liberian cookbook author fluent in French—professional writers, teachers, puppies, and a professor from Pasco County’s St. Leo University. We had an online university student and many students of life. There were two almost-too-adorable, bright, kind, creative kids who made up Valentine’s stories on the fly! We had a former priest and a Zen Buddhist who studied in Japan. We talked about first dates and weddings. About loving, sought-after step mothers who are confidantes and sources of deep connection to their spouse’s children from other loving mothers. We talked about inter-generational mother-daughter relationships, bad dates, lost loves, hormones, and life in general. We took a Valentine’s Day quiz and had some lively responses! We shared our newly printed fliers and, of course, we ate and then ate some more. Tuna, pasta, chicken,  star fruit, split peas, carrots, avocados, pizza, chocolate…a suitable smorgasbord!

Gee Whiz, It’s Third Tuesday Time

Time’s flying! Join us soon on Tuesday, February 19—our Third Tuesday of Every Month member-and-guest meeting and orientation.  We meet at Tampa’s Life Enrichment Center (LEC). Our Third Tuesdays are part of TBT’s revitalization initiative to dispatch our efforts further into the community. This month, as always, we’re dedicated to education around our mission: exchanges, as explained here in our flyer! But we’re also gearing up for a local celebration of International Timebank Day and founder Dr. Edgar Cahn’s birthday on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Come join us at LEC for some community togetherness, event planning, and timebanking conversation!

Reminder: Join Us this Sunday for a Valentine’s Soirée Potluck

Tampa Bay Timebank members and friends are cordially invited to a Valentine’s Soirée potluck where each guest can safely wear his or her heart on their well-worn (or otherwise) sleeve! Come share an enchanting dish and be prepared to extol love, celebrate joy, and bemoan loss as may be applicable. (Uh, er, when isn’t it applicable?) Tell us your tales of love liberation or what your heart aches for. Come single, coupled, ambivalent, or whatever.

Festive Valentine’s Accessories Required for Entry!

Whether it’s a red glitter heart headbopper—or a suitable tinsel tiara and socks festooned with the ancient Roman god of love—come dressed for Valentine’s attention. Regale us with accounts of crushes from yesteryear or the last 10 minutes, or anything else cupid would wink at or shed a tear over. We’ll empathize over pink confections and 1950s Jell-O molds. (Does anyone know how to make a Jell-O mold?) Come join the TBT Valentine’s Soirée where we’ll pass the “talking heart” from participant to participant, sharing friendship and real life.
